"We log about 8 miles a day, and he's still energetic and active. I've lost 25 pounds since I got him."

Sundog Shorts: Happy Anniversary
Tuesday, August 18, 2015
"I was told we would be going out for a steak dinner and a movie to
celebrate our 30th anniversary. I was in the basement watching TV until
Jim came home....he came down the stairs with a ball of fluff that has
changed my life for the better. I love him soooo much—oh, yea, and my
hubby too!"

Sundog Shorts: Mojo II
"The actual owner, she died—the daughter took him on, he got very sick.
He came in comatose, and she didn’t have the money to save him and so
wanted to just let him go. He was very near death. We couldn’t let him
go, so the Magnum fund kicked in and we saved him."

Sundog Shorts: Corkie
"Friends had puppies. It was an unexpected litter. She was one of seven.
And we didn’t know what a Yorkie Cocker Spaniel would look like, but
she turned out pretty cute. She could have won the hairiest dog contest
about six-weeks ago before she got her first haircut."

Sundog Shorts: Fetch Machine
"She's
almost 9 months old. She’s crazy. Very high-energy. She loves walks and
playing fetch and never leaving her parents alone. She likes to pretend
she’s driving the car. She could play fetch. . .I mean. . .non-stop."
Do you have a fetch machine?
"I wish we did, but it’s him."

Sundog Shorts: Lola
"She’s actually my sister’s dog, but I picked her out at the humane
society. But, she lives at our house half the time. She’s so cuddly and
loving, even sleeping under the covers with us."

Sundog Shorts: Hiking Buddy II
"I’m his fourth owner and have had him for about 5 years. I got him off
the euthanization list at the humane society. He was severely abused and
had an incontinence issue. I assume people probably beat him for that
and just made it worse. And, he was scared of cars, lightning, and
everything and now he does pretty good. We’re a pretty good team.”

Sundog Shorts: Champion Rock
"On our daily walks when she was a puppy, I taught her to jump on this large, limestone landscape rock and stack like a champion dog. We call it "Champion Rock". At two–and–a–half–years–old, with her recent Best of Breed wins, she's now a few more points closer to earning her champion title."

Sundog Shorts: Camo
"He almost died. I haven’t had a dog I’ve been close to in a long time. It could be because I spent days feeding him, giving him Pedialyte every hour on the hour, to keep him alive as he tried to fight the parvo. It was very touch-n-go. But, he’s a ferocious fighter inside. I kept telling everybody, 'Don’t count him out yet. He wants to live.'”

Sundog Shorts: Piper
Wednesday, August 12, 2015
“She’s very clever. That’s what I like about her. She tries to communicate to other dogs by using tricks I’ve taught her. So I taught her take a bow, roll-over, and play dead. And so the next day my other dog had a bone that she was chewing on, and Piper decided she wanted it so she tried to coerce her into giving her the bone by taking a bow, rolling over, and playing dead—at the other dog.”

Sundog Shorts: New Year's Eve
Tuesday, August 4, 2015
"It was New Year's Eve and I wanted her to get a taste of how expansive the world really is compared to suburbia. So we took a trip out to the rolling terrain of Kansas—in the open range—climbed a hill so she could see as far as her eyes could see. I got the feeling we were both envisioning New Year possibilities."

Sundog Shorts: Westie Puppies
Sunday, August 2, 2015
What do you love most about puppies?
"They're so roly-poly and sweet. I love how they climb on top of each other and fall asleep on top of each other. It's adorable how they're going full speed one minute and are zonked out the next. I adore their little grunts and squeaks."

Sundog Shorts: Daisy
What is special about Daisy?
"[She's] the sister I never had. She's always happy, loving, and fun to be with."
When you come out to the farm, you often refer to Daisy as "your" dog. Why is that?
"I think of her as my dog because I lover her more than any dog on the planet, and whenever I am at the barn she is right by my side."
What's one of your favorite things about coming out to the farm?
"I get to run wild and free!"
